Your shared space

Both partners can read every message and Carl’s instructions below. There is no private chat mode. You can pause or choose not to answer at any time.

Privacy, plainly

Google verifies your identity. Only the two approved accounts can access the chat. Messages are encrypted in the database; the server decrypts recent conversation context and sends it to OpenAI to generate replies. This is not end-to-end encryption. The app operator and service providers may process the conversation.

API response storage is disabled. OpenAI may retain abuse-monitoring logs under its policies. Conversations stay in Carl’s database until the operator removes them, including any retained backups. Do not use a shared device without signing out.

Carl considers up to the latest 60 messages within a context limit. Older messages remain readable but may not influence its replies.

Care & safety

Carl is AI, not a therapist or emergency service. It can make mistakes. When there is fear, coercion, or abuse, a shared chat may not be a safe place to disclose details. Seek support through a safe, independent channel.
